Tesla has always been the company to beat in the EV world, particularly with the Model 3 saloon which seems to demolish everything in its path. Can the SUV version take on the likes of the Audi Q4 e-tron and Volvo C40?
It’s certainly got the numbers to give its rivals a run for their money. Our Long Range test car comes with 315 miles of all-electric range, which is sent to the round through two motors. That also means the Model Y is (at launch at least) all-wheel drive, meaning you can go from 0-60mph in 4.8 seconds. Then there’s the Performance version, dropping the claimed 0-60mph time to 3.5 seconds (though range takes a slight hit at 298 miles). True, the Model Y is one of the fastest cars in its class, but others have caught up in terms of tech and range. So should you still bet on Tesla?
