> New Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV expected in 2022
> Follows EQE saloon
> YesAuto’s spy shots show winter testing
> Prices expected to be around £71,000
Mercedes-Benz recently launched its EQS and EQE electric cars, but we all know that the market is hungry for SUVs. We’ve caught the new EQE SUV testing in the snow.
This mid-sized SUV will go up against the BMW iX when it launches in 2022.
The EQE SUV will most likely mimic the EQE saloon lineup in terms of powertrain. That means a 90kWh battery that delivers 410 miles of range in the saloon. Obviously, being a bigger vehicle the SUV will be closer to 370 miles.
Dual motor AMG models are currently in the works, meaning you can expect some seriously quick EV SUVs from the three-pointed-star in the near future.
These prototypes are still undergoing some serious testing, however, we could see a completed EQE SUV in early 2022. Orders should open shortly after, with deliveries likely beginning after the summer.
This bit requires some educated guesswork because the saloon has yet to get an official price. We think the regular EQE might start at around £60,000 and so a £71,000 price tag of the SUV sounds feasible.
