2022 Porsche Cayman GT4 RS design

To ensure this Cayman GT4 RS is 23.6 seconds faster around The Ring than the 'standard' GT4, Porsche has made some changes to the way it looks.

Firstly it sits lower to the ground by 30mm, plus has a more aggressive adjustable front splitter and rear diffuser, a panelled underfloor for better aerodynamics, plus a swan-neck spoiler like the 911 GT3. The result is 25% more downforce than the GT4 with it all set up properly.

Unique 20-inch alloys are included and you may also have noticed new extra air intakes by the (now lighter) rear windows, which also improves the induction roar noise for the driver and passenger.

However, if you go for the optional Weissach Pack, things change. The wheels are swapped for a lighter 20-inch magnesium set, and the front luggage compartment lid, window air intakes, side air intakes, airbox cover, exterior mirror upper trims and rear wing get a carbon-weave finish.

A large Porsche logo features on the rear window and titanium exhaust tips are thrown in too.

2022 Porsche Cayman GT4 RS interior and infotainment

Things have gone even more aggressive inside too.

You get Porsche's fantastic carbon fibre bucket seats as standard, plus there are more carbon fibre and Alcantara-like Race-Tex elements on the dash and doors.

However, if you go for the Weissach package you get more Race-Tex, plus a roll cage fitted behind the seats for better protection.

The infotainment is the same as in the GT4 – a central touchscreen with sat-nav but also Apple CarPlay. The driver gets a large central rev counter and speedometer to the left, but also a small digital screen on the right.

2022 Porsche Cayman GT4 RS practicality and boot space

The Porsche Cayman GT4 RS isn't designed for going to the shops.

However, given the interior dimensions haven't changed over the regular Cayman, two tall people should be able to fit inside without issue.

Interior storage in the Cayman has never been great, but Porsche quotes 261 litres of luggage space across the Cayman's 'frunk' and behind the seats. If you go for the roll cage this will be reduced.

2022 Porsche Cayman GT4 RS engine and gearbox

The Porsche Cayman GT4 RS has been treated to one of the finest engines on sale today – the non-turbo 4.0-litre flat-six petrol from the 911 GT3.

It produces 500hp and 450Nm of torque and revs to a heady 9000rpm, which given the GT4 RS only weights 1415kg in Weissach form, means 0-62mph can be covered in just 3.4 seconds. The RS will go on to a supercar-like 196mph.

Unlike the GT4, the GT4 RS is only available with Porsche's automatic PDK gearbox. It makes sense, because the PDK is faster around a track, plus it's one of the finest auto gearboxes on sale right now.

2022 Porsche Cayman GT4 RS prices and on-sale date

The Porsche Cayman GT4 RS is on sale now and starts at £108,370 before you get busy with the options list. The Weissach Pack costs an extra £11,000 for starters.

RS Porsches are notoriously hard to get hold of and aren't built at the same rate as lesser models. We wish you the best of luck getting one on your driveway.
