2022 Kia Niro design

The outgoing Kia Niro, while popular, could be described as a bit pedestrian in terms of design. That’s not the case with this new model thanks to a striking aesthetic inspired by the HabaNiro concept of 2019.

In addition to the option of a two-tone paint scheme, the new SUV features a considerably chunkier design and a reinterpretation of Kia’s signature ‘tiger nose’ grille. Plastic cladding adds to a more substantial aesthetic, but combined with glossy finishes, the overall look is considerably more upmarket than before.

Aerodynamics were a key consideration for designers, something that is said to warrant greater efficiency overall.

2022 Kia Niro interior and infotainment

Just like the exterior, the cabin of this Niro is substantially different to what came before. New large display screens absorb the roles of instrumentation and infotainment, while some physical buttons are retained for key controls.

Fancy ambient lighting boosts perceived quality, but there’s also a strong focus on sustainability within this interior. Recycled materials such as wallpaper and the use of eucalyptus fibres give this space some considerable green credentials. A keen effort has also been made by restricting the use of various petrochemicals.

2022 Kia Niro practicality and boot space

Kia has yet to reveal exacting details on the interior, but we do know that this SUV will seat five as before. There appears to be plenty of large storage spaces, but also expect a slight boost in overall practicality.

There’s no boot space figure at the moment, but the current model features a 382-litre cargo space.

2022 Kia Niro engines, batteries, motors and ranges

More details will be revealed closer to the new Kia Niro’s launch, exacting powertrain details being a key piece of information yet to be announced.

Despite not knowing exactly what lives beneath the new bodywork, Kia has announced that the Niro will retain its broad range of powertrains. That means there’s set to be a plug-in hybrid, mild-hybrid, and full EV in the form of an e-Niro model. The latter is expected to improve upon an already impressive 280-mile EV range.

2022 Kia Niro prices and on-sale date

We're not yet sure when the 2022 Kia Niro will go on sale, but it is due to be revealed soon on 25th November 2021.

Kia is yet to confirm prices for the new Kia Niro too, but we think it'll cost from around £26,000 for the cheapest non-plug-in hybrid model.
