2022 Fiat 500X Dolcevita design

The Fiat 500X has been around for a while now, but one of its most alluring variants has only just been announced. This is the Fiat 500X Dolcevita, an open-top SUV for those wanting characterful looks and some alfresco motoring.

There’s plenty of customisation options available to make your Fiat 500X Dolcevita more unique. A choice of ten exterior paint options and three fabric roof colours allow for a host of combinations. Some trim levels also come with alloy wheels featuring vividly coloured spokes.

A new trim level for the 500 families are 500(RED). Beyond featuring some unique details, these trim levels actually represent a partnership with (RED), a charity co-founded by U2 frontman, Bono, created to fight against AIDS and COVID-19. The aim is to raise just shy of £3 million. Externally all of these cars are painted red and feature the obligatory smattering of logos. On the inside, you’ll find Seaqual yarn seats and materials made from recycled plastics.

2022 Fiat 500X Dolcevita interior and infotainment

The interior of the Fiat 500X Dolcevita is largely the same as the standard car on which it is based. Obviously, the opening roof boosts an airy cabin feel, something that can be done at up to 62mph and in as little as 15 seconds.

All cars come with a 7-inch infotainment system that’s compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Cross trim features interesting camouflage seating, while Sport models get more athletic seats and a matt finish to the dashboard.

2022 Fiat 500X Dolcevita practicality and boot space

Thanks to this not being a full convertible in the traditional sense, boot space is unimpeded versus the standard car. That means 350-litres of storage, which is usable but less than many other competitors.

Rear passengers might sacrifice a little. bit of headroom for the opening roof, but legroom remains plentiful.

2022 Fiat 500X Dolcevita engines

There are two engine options for the Fiat 500X Dolcevita, both 1.0-litre petrol units. The entry motor features 120bhp and a manual gearbox, while the more powerful 150bhp model gets a dual-clutch automatic.

Fiat is not offering the Dolcevita with a diesel engine.

2022 Fiat 500X Dolcevita prices and on-sale date

If you fancy a 500X with some added ‘wind in your hair’ the good news is that you can place an order right now. Pricing starts from £23,975 with deliveries expected later in 2021. If you’re after one of the special charity (RED) cars, they can be had from £26,775.
