2021 Kia Ceed design

The highly competitive C-segment is a challenging environment for any car with competitors supplying some of the UK’s most purchased models. Ford’s Focus is the leader of the pack in this regard, but Kia’s popular Ceed is also a strong choice.

This updated car gets significant revisions to its design with a modified grille, more intricate headlights, and honeycomb-style rear lighting signatures. Overall it’s a more sporting look and less anonymous than the car it replaces. GT and GT-Line trims get more athletic bodywork with larger intakes and more dynamic shaping – not to mention larger alloy wheels.

2021 Kia Ceed interior and infotainment

The cabin has been treated to plusher finishes with material quality being further improved. It remains an ergonomically sound space with good levels of storage.

Entry-level cars get an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, but the system dramatically improves as you walk up the range. A 10.25-inch screen can be had, or the range-topping 12.3-inch is amongst the biggest in this class.

Safety systems have also been improved with the car now able to actively steer away from a collision, a chime if you’re about to open a door into traffic, and the cross-traffic system will apply the brakes if you’re about to reverse into an obstacle.

2021 Kia Ceed practicality and boot space

Practicality in the Kia Ceed remains the same as before, meaning a cabin fit for a small family thanks to good storage and adequate rear space.

Boot space is a healthy 395-litres, that’s more than you’ll find in rivals such as the Volkswagen Golf, Ford Focus, and Vauxhall Astra.

2021 Kia Ceed Engines

There was a recent tweak to the engine lineup, so from this updated Ceed’s perspective, nothing has changed. You can have this hatchback with a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder, or 1.5-litre petrol engine with the former being manual only. There’s just one diesel option in the form of a 1.6-litre mild hybrid.

2021 Kia Ceed prices and on-sale date

This being a facelift model means there’s a modest increase in price over the outgoing car with prices starting at £20,105. All cars come well equipped with gizmos such as an 8-inch infotainment system, cruise control, and reversing camera coming as standard. Move up to ‘3’ trim and larger alloys and more tech can be had from £23,795. If you want sportier styling and more toys, GT-Line models come in at £24,625.

You can place an order for the updated Kia Ceed range right now, with deliveries expected later this year.
