> All-new Renault Kadjar expected to be released early 2022
> Will share its platform with the Nissan Qashqai
> YesAuto’s spy shots of test mule reveals interior details
> Prices expected to be around £27,000
The Renault Kadjar has never received all of the attention of its Nissan Qashqai sibling, that’s despite being broadly similar and sharing the same platform. This French SUV is back for an all-new generation, and will again share its underpinnings with the Nissan.
This test mule is keeping its cards close to its chest for now, but we can start to see a considerably more modern design peer through the camouflage. Our spy shots also give us a look inside the new SUV, something that reveals a pair of large display screens.
We’re expecting the Kadjar to mimic the engine lineup of the new Nissan Qashqai, meaning diesel engines are out and hybrids are in. A pair of mild-hybrid petrol engines should be offered from launch, with plug-in models expected to launch in the near future.
There should also be the choice of either a 6-speed manual transmission or an automatic.
This is a more difficult question to answer as this is one of the first times we’ve seen the Kadjar out and about. However, considering much of the hardcore testing will have been done via the Qashqai, we think it should make a debut in early 2022.
Pricing is truly speculative at this point, but the Renault has always been a little costlier than its Nissan sibling. Considering the Qashqai’s current starting price and how much the current Kadjar costs, we’d estimate a starting price just shy of £27,000.
