> YesAuto’s spy shots of test mule shows saloon testing on German roads
> Prices expected to be around £39,500
The Audi A6 is one of the most versatile cars in the German manufacturer’s range. You can have it as a saloon, a sportier S6, Avant estate, rugged Allroad, plug-in hybrid and the colossally rapid RS 6. Expect all of these models to return within the 2022 A6 portfolio.
Our latest spy shots show an A6 saloon test mule roaming German streets while testing. The thin layer of camouflage suggests that this will be a mild styling update that will focus on new bumpers and lighting designs.
The Audi A6 engine range will likely remain the same with a wide range of 2.0-litre or 3.0-litre petrol and diesel units offered in various states of tune – all fitted with an automatic gearbox.
TFSI e plug-in hybrid cars utilise a 2.0-litre petrol engine and an electric motor. It should be capable of around 25 miles on pure electric power.
An updated RS 6 will no doubt continue to wield a twin-turbocharged V8 engine.
This facelift appears to be rather mild, and the test mule caught on camera appears to be in production guise. It’s fair to expect the new A6 to surface in early 2022 with various derivatives launching throughout that year.
There’s no official word on pricing at this point in time, but expect a slight uplift on today’s starting price. An entry-level saloon might begin at £39,500 with the plug-in hybrid pushing £54k, £41,000 for an Avant, around £57,000 if you’re after an Allroad, and nearly £97,000 for a mighty RS 6.
Order books should open shortly after the car’s reveal, with deliveries commencing soon after.
