2021 Genesis GV60 design

Meet the GV60, the very first all-electric model from the newly launched Genesis brand. While the current range offers traditional petrol and diesel power, this up and coming model promises to be the beginning of its all-electric journey.

Unlike the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 model that shares this platform, the GV60 takes the form of a sleeker SUV that plays host to a coupe-style roofline. Most surfaces have a river pebble smooth tone to them, but the wraparound styling element that connects the rear windscreen to the side windows is rather bold. Another unique feature is the large clamshell bonnet. It retains the Genesis ‘family face’ with that recognisable pentagonal grille and double-barred headlight signature.

2021 Genesis GV60 interior and infotainment

Genesis is all about luxury, and the cabin of the GV60 continues that lineage. Rich leathers and premium design is narrated by neat stitching. A curious crystal ball is used for drive selection, something that separates the GV60 from less extroverted rivals. Interesting interior options are also on the cards with various interior colour combinations.

A large dual-screen layout takes care of instrumentation and infotainment in the GV60. This EV also features a pair of displays in the corners of the cabin to display the door camera’s view in place of conventional mirrors.

2021 Genesis GV60 practicality and boot space

Genesis have yet to announce some of the GV60’s details, but it’s safe to assume that it will be proportionally similar to its sister models. It will seat five but expect boot space to be less due to that sloping roofline.

2021 Genesis GV60 batteries and motors

The Genesis GV60 is based upon an impressive 800v electrical architecture, meaning that a 350kW ultra-rapid charge is possible. At that rate, its 77.4kWh battery can be charged 10%-80% in just 18 minutes.

Buyers will have the choice of three GV60 models with the range kicking off with a 226bhp single motor model featuring a 280-mile range. All-wheel drive is available via a dual-motor variant producing 314bhp and offering a range of 248 miles. A range-topping ‘Performance’ car is also equipped with all-wheel drive but boasts 429bhp and a 0-62mph sprint of just 4 seconds. That car’s range will be 229 miles.
